The Physics Prize was awarded to John Bardeen, Leon Cooper, and Robert Schrieffer  for the development of the BCS theory of superconductivity, which explained how certain materials can conduct electricity without resistance at very low temperatures.

Chemistry:

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1972 was awarded to Christian B. Anfinsen, Stanford Moore, and William H. Stein for their contributions to understanding the structure and function of ribonuclease, particularly how its amino acid sequence determines its biological activity.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Gerald M. Edelman and Rodney R. Porter for their work on the structure of antibodies, which had profound implications for immunology and medicine.

Peace Prize:

The Nobel Peace Prize in 1972 was awarded to Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho for their roles in negotiating a ceasefire during the Vietnam War. However, Le Duc Tho declined the prize, becoming the first and only laureate to do so, citing the failure to reach a lasting peace in Vietnam. The Peace price is not included in the Sporrong series, because it is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
